Al Ain secured a 1-0 narrow win over Al Jazira in the first leg of the ADIB Cup quarter-finals on Thursday at Hazza bin Zayed Stadium.

Soufian Rahimi delivered the decisive goal, giving Al Ain the advantage ahead of the second leg.

The match began with Al Ain displaying relentless attacking intensity from the opening whistle, determined to take the lead early.

Their efforts paid off in the 10th minute when Rahimi capitalized on his own penalty rebound, following an excellent save by Al Jazira’s goalkeeper Stojan Lekovic.

Al Jazira responded with multiple attacking moves, seeking to level the score before halftime.

However, Al Ain’s defence held firm, thwarting Al Jazira’s attempts and maintaining their narrow lead as the first half concluded.

In the second half, Al Ain continued to press forward in search of a second goal to extend their lead, while Al Jazira countered with a series of offensive plays.

Despite their efforts, Al Jazira struggled to create clear scoring opportunities, with Al Ain goalkeeper Mohamed Bu Sanda delivering a composed performance.

The closely fought match ended with Al Ain holding on to their 1-0 lead, taking a significant step toward the semi-finals.

The second leg is scheduled for December 30 at Mohammed bin Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi.
