Al Wahda clinched victory in the Abu Dhabi Derby with a narrow 1-0 win over rivals Al Jazira on Wednesday night at Mohammed bin Zayed Stadium in Matchweek five of the ADNOC Pro League.

The decisive moment came in first-half stoppage time when Jazira defender Ravil Tagir inadvertently turned the ball into his own net following pressure from Omar Khribin.

It was the third own goal in the history of this derby in the ADNOC Pro League, with all three scored by Al Jazira players on home soil.

The game began with an early setback for Al Jazira as Egyptian international Mohamed Elneny was forced off with injury after just eight minutes.

In the second half, Al Jazira continued to press, but Al Wahda goalkeeper Mohamed Alshamsi produced a crucial save in the 80th minute to deny the hosts an equalizer.

Al Wahda defended solidly until the final whistle to secure all three points.

The result lifts Al Wahda to the top of the ADNOC Pro League standings with 11 points, at least temporarily, while Al Jazira remain on seven points in fifth place.
