Kalba and Al Jazira played out a 1-1 draw at Kalba Stadium in Matchweek 10 of the ADNOC Pro League on Monday.

Shahriyar Moghanloo broke the deadlock after 23 minutes, rising highest inside the penalty area to power home a commanding header from a perfectly weighted cross by Rejan Alivoda.

The goal marked Moghanloo’s 10th of the league and gave the hosts a deserved advantage.

However, Al Jazira responded swiftly as Nabil Fekir restored parity just four minutes later with a moment of individual brilliance.

The French playmaker curled a superb free-kick around the wall, taking a slight deflection on its way into the net. It was Fekir’s second goal from a set-piece, following his free-kick strike against Al Ain in May.

Fekir nearly turned the match in Al Jazira’s favour shortly after the hour mark when he latched onto a sublime through ball that sent him clean through on goal.

The attacker rounded the advancing goalkeeper but fired his effort agonisingly over the crossbar when a goal seemed inevitable, seven minutes after the hour.

Late drama followed in stoppage time as goalscorer Fekir was shown a red card, reducing the Pride of Abu Dhabi to ten men for the closing moments of the contest.

Both sides pushed in search of a winning goal, but resolute defending at both ends ensured the scoreline remained unchanged, with the points ultimately shared.

The result leaves Kalba ninth in the standings with 12 points, while Al Jazira remain fourth on 18 points.
