Al Jazira Club turned on the style in the second half to book their Round of 16 spot with a 3-0 win over Al Muharraq SC in their AFC Champions League Two 2026/27™ Group B tie on Wednesday.
Second-half substitute Bruno Conceicao made the difference, setting up
Vinicius Mello’s opener before scoring the second with Igor Serrote adding the third for the UAE side.
Al Muharraq started brightly, with Bruno Santos firing over the bar from close range in the sixth minute before Al Jazira goalkeeper Ersin Destanoglu denied the Brazilian from a tight angle four minutes later.
The hosts kept up the pressure from the resulting corner, but Abdulwahab Al Malood’s effort went narrowly wide.
Al Malood then turned provider in the 19th minute, picking out Amine Benaddi, whose headed attempt sailed over the bar as Al Muharraq continued to threaten from set-pieces.
Al Jazira gradually found their footing, and Vladan Dekic was called upon in the 24th minute to save Vinicius Mello’s effort from inside the area.
The home side saw another chance go to waste in the 38th minute with Juninho narrowly missing the target from inside the box, while Destanoglu kept out Arthur Rezende’s long-range attempt in first half stoppage time.
Both sides continued from where they left off after the break, with Mello firing wide for Al Jazira in the 47th minute, while Mohamed Al Hardan’s effort from outside the box narrowly missed the target at the other end five minutes later.
Al Jazira began to build pressure, with Kristjan Asllani threatening twice in quick succession just before the hour mark, before the UAE side took the lead in the 63rd minute.
Substitute Conceicao slipped an inviting through ball into the box from the right, and Al Muharraq’s defence failed to track Mello, who struck a low finish into the bottom left corner.
Milson then orchestrated their second in the 69th minute, starting the move with a pass that sent Nermin Mujkic clear into the box, with Conceicao applying a simple finish from close range.
Serrote then added further gloss to the scoreline when he collected Milson’s layoff at the top of the area before unleashing a powerful drive into the bottom left corner to seal the win and Al Jazira’s ticket to the knockout stage.
