The coach of the first team, Gregory Dufrennes, described Baniyas as a strong team and opponent and stressed that Al Jazira will face them on Sunday night with their eyes set on the three points when they host them at the Mohamed bin Zayed Stadium as part of matchweek 22 of the ADNOC Pro League.
"We face a strong competitor on Sunday, Bani Yas, which has good players in all positions and enjoys stability in the lineup and understanding among its players, who have been playing together for quite a while”, said the coach during the pre-match press conference. “When they are on their day, they can create problems for the competitors and it is always difficult to defeat them. We respect Baniyas, but we have a very great desire to win the match, especially since it’s at our home and in front of our fans, and also because we are still searching for the first victory in 2024. I believe our chances of winning the three points will be great if we stick to the plan and maintain our focus and discipline throughout the match.”
The coach continued, "There are no significant absences in the squad, but there are players suffering from some physical problems, and we are monitoring their situation with the medical staff on a daily basis. We have an amazing group of players and substitutes who can always step up and help the team whenever the need arises, and for this reason, we do not worry if we lose some players due to injury or illness.”
“I am satisfied with what the players presented in the last three matches that we played outside our stadium against strong opponents, but if we want to improve and play better, we must correct the mistakes that we made in those matches, and this is what we are currently working on intensively and daily. The team is improving continuously and there is a positive spirit in the dressing room and the training field. We need to translate all these positives into reality and start winning games in the remainder of this season”.
